Major References

Charles Eldridge and Hetty Jane Owen

As this branch of the Eldridge family history kicks into action, I should note in advance the major use made of the following valuable resources, with pride of place going to the Eldridge one-name study website of Robert and Karen Eldridge. Their particular interest is in the origins of the Eldridge families in Australia, and this in itself references us to both the history of voluntary migration, and to those forced migrations that took place in the era of penal transportation. Their site provides a wealth of information about Eldridges from all corners of the United Kingdom and beyond, and has been a valuable point of reference throughout this journey.

Once again, the spirited endeavours of the ever-growing Ancestry.co.uk community should be acknowledged, as should all the contributors to the Family Search website.

Plentiful other references will be included as this exploration proceeds.
