Jane Jones, David Owen’s future wife was born in Llanrwst in 1828 and baptized at the very same Calvinist-Methodist chapel as David. Note that her father, John Jones, was a bookbinder, and that her mother was a Gwen Davies. These were Hetty Jane Owen’s great-grandparents. Gwen was born in 1806, and John in 1805, both in Merionethshire.
John and Gwen had six recorded children. Five of these children were living with them at the time of the 1841 census in Llanykil, Bala, with the sixth, Griffith, residing next door, and working as a bookbinder. John was working as an agricultural labourer at the time.
