Bromley Street today. Clarissa was living here in 1861 with her mother, Harriett Wombwell.
This Blog is for the most part the story of the family history of our own branch of the Eldridge family. The investigation of the ancestors of Hetty Jane Owen, the wife of Charles Albert Eldridge is now complete, and the tale has resumed with an examination of the line of Charles Albert Eldridge.

Clarissa Robinson
Clarissa Robinson was the eighth child of Harriett Wombwell and Charles John Robinson. She was born in Stepney in 1844 and died in Romford, Essex in 1935. When Harriett died, Clarissa and her younger sister were still living in the family home. A little later that same year of 1871, she married Joseph James Billings (1835-????), an ironmonger and commercial traveller in Poplar. The couple then moved to West Ham, where they are both to be found in the Forest Gate area in the 1911 census. Perhaps times were hard, for Clarissa had by then taken up professional life as a tarnish and colour manufacturer. Clarissa and Joseph had seven children.
