Thomas Edmund Godfrey Carter was born in Stoke Newington, and died in the London Temperence Hospital on the Hampstead Road. He married Kate Morrison (1883-1971) with whom he had one child. Both Thomas and Effie are located in the 1871 and 1881 censuses in Monmouthshire, Wales, with their Uncle, a John Thomas Carter. Their father was with them in the 1871 census, but died later that same year, and thus the children were orphaned.
