Charles Richard Wombwell Robinson
(1873-1953). Charles was born in Southgate and died in West Ham. He married
Rebecca Alice Wade in 1894, and they had four children. In the 1911 census,
he is recorded as an electrician general, living in Shoreditch. Again, thanks
to Andrew Parsons, it can be recorded that:
‘Charles’ main career started before 1894
as a self employed Watch Maker. By
1911, we see him changing direction into the Electronic / Wireless field. The
shop in Holloway road became a family business with all his three sons
working with him in various capacities. Much of their work included Radio and
Automobile work and resulted in various new technologies being developed.’

Henry Charles Robinson (1894-1974). Henry
was born in Islington and died in Hayward’s Heath. He married Dorothy Enid
Raphael (1891-1969). On 1911, he is listed as an ‘improver electrician’. He
was living with the family in Shoreditch at the time. He fought in and
survived both World Wars. Andrew Parsons recounts that:
After
the war in 1946, Henry started his own company - H.C. Robinson (Electrical
Contractors) Ltd at 35, Kenway Road, Earls Court - all his three son being
partners. Sadly for Henry - he had one ‘major undoing’ - his social life. He
would spend hours drinking with his ‘friends’ and revealing many of his new
‘secret’ invention, which undoubtedly many used for their ‘own advantage.
The photo below comes from the ancestry site of Andrew Parsons:
Henry was a Great-grandson of Charles John Robinson and Harriett Wombwell, and second cousin of Hetty Jane Owen.

This Blog is for the most part the story of the family history of our own branch of the Eldridge family. The investigation of the ancestors of Hetty Jane Owen, the wife of Charles Albert Eldridge is now complete, and the tale has resumed with an examination of the line of Charles Albert Eldridge.
